Dr. Shante Lyons

ST. LOUIS – Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School (CRCP) and the Catholic Education Office of the Archdiocese of St. Louis are pleased to announce that Dr. Shante Lyons has been selected as the new principal of Cardinal Ritter College Prep. The selection process included input from a committee comprised of parents, students, alumni, faculty, staff, and administration.
Dr. Lyons is currently an assistant principal at Ladue Horton Watkins High School and will assume the position of principal at Cardinal Ritter College Prep at the start of the 2018-2019 school year. Dr. Lyons is a class of 2000 alumnus of CRCP, and previously served as Leadership teacher and football coach at the school from 2010-2014.
“Cardinal Ritter College Prep has always been an institution that emboldens its students to become the best version of themselves, to empower others, and to make an impact through collective responsibility,” says Dr. Lyons. “Cardinal Ritter made a profound impact on my life, and empowered me to serve through leadership nearly two decades ago. I am honored to return and fulfill this promise at my alma mater.”
Dr. Lyons earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Missouri St. Louis, a Master of Educational Administration from Missouri Baptist University, a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management from Webster University, a Bachelor of Arts in English, and a minor in Black American Studies and Political Science from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale where he attended on a full football scholarship.
Cardinal Ritter College Prep’s current principal, Michael Blackshear, will retire at the end of the 2017-2018 school year. “We are truly grateful to Mr. Blackshear for his legacy and leadership, and we are pleased to welcome Dr. Shante Lyons as our new principal in the 2018-2019 school year” says Tamiko Armstead, President of Cardinal Ritter College Prep. “Dr. Lyons is an exemplar of our mission, and a true model of the intellectual, spiritual, and moral leadership CRCP builds in our community. I am confident that Dr. Lyon’s experience, skills, and leadership will propel our students to the next level of achievement now and into the future.”
